Ok, I borrowed a Salman Rushdie pun for this title but I think it’s really relevant. Here’s an article and photo spread for a Korean fashion designer and artist that was born in London, Chan Hyo-Bae. Through fashion and photography, he is making a strong statement about identity. By partaking in a witty form of ethnomasquerade, he dresses up in Victorian British clothing and plays with ideas of identity, assimilation, and empire. I think the photos speak for themselves:
